Of course! Again because of the credit union agreement, three independent appraisers must be contacted for bids on each vehicle presented for trade. Conservatively you most often receive $300 to $500 more than the single appraisal provided at dealerships.

How vehicles are appraised…


1. A Kelly Blue Book value sheet is completed by obtaining the vehicle’s identification number (VIN), exact mileage and detailed equipment listing.


2. The all important eye appeal! A thorough review of the paint, body and interior of the vehicle is completed.


3. An inspection for oil leaks, including driving the vehicle looking for proper engine, transmission, braking, air conditioning and specialty equipment operation, i.e. 4X4, moon roof, power windows, locks, etc.


4. Dealers add another criteria, if they have a few on their lot or if it is a vehicle they will not keep on their lot…they become conservative on your appraisal.


Please note that Jim Estrada Auto Consultant united with Centennial Leasing is required by credit union contract to "shop your trade" by obtaining three independent appraisals. Your advantage? The appraisers are more aggressive, compete for your trade and thereby offering more money to you! Conservatively, our appraisals are $300 to $500 more than offered by dealers without the standard dealer "markup games."


What you must keep in mind is that all vehicles are depreciating assets, they lose value every two months! This is why you must assure yourself of proper guidance in every buying decision and that is why you need a professional not committed to any specific make, model or dealership.
